The E List Shop Update and Opening Party!

Things are moving speedily along for the opening of our new women’s clothing store in Chester! The renovations are just about complete, beautiful spring merchandise is arriving daily (and yes, it feels like Christmas!), and we’re setting up our e-commerce shop. It’s all sort of unbelievable and super exciting at the same time! The team is LOVING working in Chester (fueled by Sprouted’s oat milk cappuccinos right across the street), and we can’t wait for the big reveal.

Our loyal readers are invited to our soft opening on “Subscriber Saturday”, March 16th, from 11am to 8pm. The shop on the first floor of the stone building will be ready for spring wardrobing with our wonderful (and French!) manager, Laurence Lavagne, at the helm.

Upstairs, in our gallery/event/work space, you’ll find an exhibit of works by Brian Keith Stephens, one of our favorite local and renowned artists. We’ll be serving drinks and snacks all day, too, so come up and share a toast with us!

As weirdly thrilled as I am to be back in the fashion industry after so many years, I also would like to tell you about a small side project, something I’ve always wanted to do that holds a very special place in my heart.

In the foyer of our second floor space, you’ll find a little bookshop filled with art and design tomes. Why books, you ask? Many of my happiest childhood days were spent cross-legged on the floor between the stacks of my grandfather’s bookstore in Manhattan. Biblo & Tannen was a venerated bookseller of rare and antiquarian books plus a publishing company back in the day when 4th Avenue was a booklover’s dream. The shop was open for over 50 years and sadly closed when my grandfather and his partner retired in the late seventies.

For me, the bookstore was heaven. I loved the somewhat musty smell, the creaky floors, and the idea that I could peruse the shelves of children’s books for hours, carefully choosing the five books we were allowed on every visit. The shop nurtured my lifelong love of reading and I am excited to carry on the family legacy in a tiny but meaningful way.

So…mark your calendars! Hope to see you at our soft opening for E List Subscribers on March 16th from 11 – 8 pm,

1 North Main Street, Chester
