My absolute favorite shops are bookstores and kitchenwares, both of which have been drummed out of business by Amazon and Williams and Sonoma. I’m not sure how I’ve missed the Gray Goose all these years, but I’m so happy to have found it. Amidst the racks of All Clad, Cuisinart, Lodge Cast Iron, Messermeister knife rolls and backpacks (oooh!), Kai knives and stacks of cookbooks you’ll find all manner of specialty baking accoutrements like these: a cake-sized “Oreo” cookie pan, mini personal pie pans, Nordicware’s butterfly and bug minicake pans, and a very specific sort of pan that turns out perfect Parisian macarons à la Ladurée.

Stash your kids at the play kitchen and browse to your heart’s content, or gather a group for a private cooking class. For cooking buffs this is an irresistible (and family-owned) store. Check the website for the lineup of  classes–kids classes this week! Free knife sharpening, too.
